in Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL
As a dual-board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and otolaryngologist, we at Davis Plastic Surgery understand that not every patient in Florida including Tampa, St. Petersburg and the surrounding towns who is dissatisfied with their nose requires invasive surgery to improve the appearance.
What Is Liquid Rhinoplasty?
Liquid rhinoplasty is one of the newest nonsurgical treatments available from a facial plastic surgeon. Instead of needing several incisions to modify the shape of a nose, Dr. Davis uses injectable fillers during a nonsurgical treatment that can change several features of the nose, including:
- The shape
- The size
- Position of the nasal tip
- Straighten the nasal bridge
- Hiding bumps
Liquid rhinoplasty is a great choice for the right patient because it is an almost painless and convenient way to correct small abnormalities of the nose without an invasive surgery that requires general and local anesthesia, multiple incisions, and long recovery times.
What Are The Benefits Of Liquid Rhinoplasty?
Patients request liquid rhinoplasty for several reasons such as:
- Immediate results
- Quick recovery times
- Safety of injectable fillers
A patient will see a result from an injectable filler procedure instantly rather than needing to wait for bruising and swelling to decrease after a traditional nose job.
Due to the short recovery times, a patient can return to normal activities right way without experiencing any discomfort. The injectable fillers used by Dr. Davis are well-known with no unpleasant side effects. The injectable fillers are commonly used on other areas of the face and are perfect for filling minor depressions on or around the nose, leading to a dramatically changed facial appearance without invasive surgery.
What Are The Limitations Of Liquid Rhinoplasty?
There are excellent benefits from liquid rhinoplasty, but there are limitations that patients should understand. The injectable fillers used during liquid rhinoplasty are suitable for concealing bumps or depressions to contour and smooth the existing nasal structure but are unable to repair damaged bone or cartilage.
A large percentage of patients who want rhinoplasty require a traditional procedure to correct major defects. For some nose abnormalities or due to a patient’s medical history, injectable fillers are not appropriate for correcting certain types of defects. Dr. Davis will examine a patient and evaluate their medical history to make a decision regarding a liquid rhinoplasty.
What Injectables Are Used In Liquid Rhinoplasty?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are used during liquid rhinoplasty procedures. Dr. Davis can choose from a variety of filler products, including:
All of these fillers are preferred because the injectables are easy for Dr. Davis to shape and mold or improve within 24-hours after a procedure when requested. Because injectable fillers are not a long-lasting way to change the shape of a nose, patients can choose to have a surgical nose job at a later time.
How Long Does A Liquid Rhinoplasty Last?
Injectable fillers are not a long-lasting way to change the appearance of the nose, and the results depend on several factors, including:
- The brand of injectable filler used
- Area of nose receiving filler during the treatment
- A patient’s individual response and healing time
Dr. Davis discusses the benefits of each type of injectable filler with patients during a consultation. In addition, the area of the nose receiving the injection can affect how long the filler provides results. Each patient metabolizes injectable fillers at a different rate, affecting the result. At Davis Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Davis discusses the average range of time for each brand of injectable filler and the area of an injection on the nose.
What Are The Instructions After A Liquid Rhinoplasty?
1. Ice Packs
For the first 24-hours after a liquid rhinoplasty, patients must apply ice packs frequently.
2. Elevate the Head
Place two pillows under the head to keep it elevated above the heart. Keep your head of bed elevated for the first 24 hours.
3. Treat the Nose Gently
Do not massage, apply pressure or push on the nose for two weeks after the liquid rhinoplasty.
4. No Strenuous Activities
Avoid activities such as contact sports for two weeks to avoid bumping the nose.
5. Using Makeup
Using makeup on the nose is acceptable with a gentle application.
6: Water is Acceptable
There is no danger if your nose becomes wet while showering, bathing or swimming as long as it is not pushed or bumped.
