in Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL
Do you want brighter, smoother skin but find chemical peels too harsh? Many patients come to see Davis Facial Plastic Surgery looking for a gentle but effective way to resurface their skin and address signs of aging. Patients living in Tampa, St. Petersburg and the surrounding areas of Tampa Bay may want to consider dermaplaning.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a simple, safe procedure that uses a surgical scalpel to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin. It removes the top layer of dead skin along with fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz). Dermaplaning leaves the skin feeling smooth and promoting the penetration of skincare products. It also helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Dermaplaning with Lactic or Glycolic Non-Shedding Peel
At Davis Facial Plastic Surgery, we’re proud to offer dermaplaning with lactic or glycolic non-shedding peels. In addition to all of the benefits provided by a standard dermaplaning treatment, the application of a non-shedding peel brings even more therapeutic value. Your skin will be even smoother and brighter than it would be if you received a dermaplaning treatment alone.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning can be used to treat the face and delicate neck area. It is commonly used on the cheeks, forehead, chin, lips, and other areas of the face. It should not be used on clients who have active breakouts or infections. Dermaplaning is safe for all skin types when performed properly.
Can Dermaplaning Be Combined with Other Treatments?
Yes! At Davis Facial Plastic Surgery, many of our patients combine dermaplaning with either our DiamondGlow® treatments or our Intraceuticals Oxygen Facials. With these combinations, your skin will feel amazingly smooth in just 1 treatment session! Plus, your skincare products will penetrate the skin better than ever. You’ll also notice that makeup goes on the skin beautifully.
Are You a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is appropriate for those wishing to achieve glowing, smooth skin through gentle exfoliation. Both men and women can benefit. It can treat skin dullness, rough texture, fine lines, acne scarring, vellus hair, and uneven pigmentation.
How is Dermaplaning Performed?
Dermaplaning is performed in the office with no anesthesia needed. The procedure takes about 30-45 minutes. A member of our team will first cleanse the skin. Then we use a sterile, surgical scalpel at a 45 degree angle to gently exfoliate the entire face, repeating until the desired level of exfoliation is achieved. A serum is applied afterward to replenish the skin.
What is Recovery Like After Dermaplaning?
There is no downtime needed after dermaplaning. Some temporary redness may occur which subsides within a few hours. Most patients can resume normal activities right away. Peeling and flaking may occur as the dead skin sheds over the next 3-4 days. It is important to use sun protection as the new skin will be highly sensitive.
How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?
Davis Facial Plastic Surgery does not participate in any medical health insurance plans. We offer CareCredit® financing to help you cover out of pocket costs. We accept payments via cash, or credit card, as well. For more information about financial options, give us a call.
