What is Sculptra®?
You have quite a few options when it comes to facial injectables and fillers, but Sculptra® is one of the first options that will gradually and consistently give you amazing results long after the initial treatment. The results of Sculptra® are not immediately noticeable, but patients that are struggling with the effects of low collagen levels will continue to see improvements as the structure of their skin is restored. You will be able to enjoy fuller and smoother skin for up to two years or longer.
Benefits of Sculptra®
One of the primary benefits of Sculptra® is its longevity. This safe and synthetic material will slowly begin to add volume to any areas where it is has been lost. Sculptra® is a thick substance, which means that the effects will often outlast most other injectables.
How is Sculptra® Administered?
Anyplace where deep wrinkles, fine lines, or slightly sagging skin appear on your face may benefit from Sculptra®. We first apply a topical anesthetic to reduce the chance of any discomfort and then inject this synthetic material just under the skin. One or more injections might be required depending on your own unique needs.
Preparing for Sculptra®
Just as with any other procedure, it is vital that patients discontinue the use of anything that acts as a blood thinner at least a few days before the treatment. This includes typical over-the-counter painkillers such as Motrin and Ibuprofen. Patients that have been prescribed any medication that thins their blood should speak with their primary healthcare provider to discuss their options. It is ideal to switch medications or temporarily stop taking the medication, but the treatment may still be an option even if you cannot take a break from these prescriptions. If you must continue taking this medication, you can expect the bruising and swelling to last slightly longer. Alcohol also acts as a blood thinner, and this means that patients must stop drinking a few days before their treatment.
Patients should expect recovery to last for at least a half a day after the appointment. This often means taking some time off of work, school, or errands as the swelling goes down and the bruising fades. It is important to not use any cosmetics whatsoever on or around the injection site. Gently applying a cold compress to the swollen skin will help to reduce discomfort, and patients can begin taking over-the-counter painkillers immediately following the injections.
How Much Does Sculptra® Cost?
In order to be able to provide this treatment to as many patients as possible, Davis Facial Plastic Surgery accepts financing through CareCredit®. You can pay by major credit card, personal check, or cash.
Are Sculptra® Injections Right for Me?
Anyone that has noticed wrinkles or fine lines around their eyes, mouth, or forehead will most likely be a good candidate for Sculptra®. This injectable is also a great option for anyone wishing to add volume to ‘baggy’ areas without undergoing surgery.
