Facial Implants
in Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL

Facial balance is an aspect of attractiveness that few men and women consider. As a dual-board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and otolaryngologist, Dr. Dean G. Davis has an intimate understanding of how the contours of your face work in harmony. At Davis Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer facial implants to enhance the appearances of men and women in Florida including Tampa, St. Petersburg and the surrounding towns.

What are Facial Implants?

Facial implants are specialized implants used to alter or improve a person’s facial structure. People who have poor facial contours or weak bone structures, or those who’ve sustained a facial injury that resulted in structural abnormalities, frequently choose to receive these implants to achieve a better overall appearance. The cheeks and chin are the most common areas for implants to be used.

Benefits of Facial Implants

Patients may decide to get facial implants for the following reasons:

  • Balancing facial structure and improving symmetry
  • Mimicking the natural structure of bone
  • Providing greater definition of facial features
  • Enhancing self-image and confidence

How is Facial Implant Surgery Performed?

Facial implants are normally done using general anesthesia. The procedure used will depend on the type and location of the implants. In most cases, patients undergo:

Preparing for Facial Implant Surgery

Facial surgery, like most other surgeries, is an invasive procedure. Therefore, the following steps are required to ensure that patients are healthy enough to undergo facial implant surgery:

  • Blood testing
  • Medical history and evaluation
  • Making adjustments to medications
  • Quitting smoking at least two weeks before the procedure
  • Avoiding NSAIDs, aspirin, corticosteroids or nutritional supplements that could promote excessive bleeding
  • Taking medications prescribed by Dr. Davis

Recovery from Facial Implants

Right after the implant surgery, we dress your incisions and bandages to ensure cleanliness of the area and provide support to the implants. After the anesthetic wears off, the patient is usually able to go home with their escort. Dr. Davis may place drains in the incision sites to prevent excess fluid from collecting. It’s critical that you adhere to the post-surgical care instructions given to you by Dr. Davis in order to facilitate proper healing and minimize the risk of complications. It’s normal to experience slight pain, swelling and bruising near the incision sites, but this typically only lasts a few days. Using pain relievers and a cold compress will help control these effects.

You must stay face-up at all times for approximately one week after your surgery to ensure that your implants stay in place during the healing process. The majority of patients can go back to work and resume their regular activities after a week, depending on the procedure. After the week is up, you will likely be able to have your stitches extracted. It’s recommended to avoid vigorous physical activity for between six and eight weeks after the surgery.

How Do I Know if Facial Implants are Right for Me?

If you’re not happy with the shape of your face, such as a weak chin or poor contours, you may be a good candidate for facial implant surgery. Furthermore, implants can be of particular benefit if you’ve sustained damage to your facial structure.

Real Patient Reviews

“Currently 2 1/2 months post-op from septorhinoplasty and chin implant and let me just say this man has changed my life. I had deviated septum’s, crooked nose, dorsal hump and droopy tip. We can thank my polish ancestors for that. Also I didn’t even know I had problems breathing until after my surgery.. I can breathe so much better. My nose looks so good even though there is a lot of swelling still. Dr. Davis likes to do more natural rhinoplasties, I told him I wanted it to be more dramatic and that he did. It’s a big difference but I still look like myself. It was hard believing that I can find beauty in myself without my nose making me look like a different person, but he proved me wrong. His bedside manner is amazing and I really can’t imagine a scenario where it could’ve gone any better. Everything was perfect from consultation to surgery. He really does make you feel so comfortable and taken care of, even his staff. Shoutout to Natasha and Ashley <3. He really makes you feel that you can trust him completely, and I did. So far I am loving my new nose and I can’t wait to see how it looks in a year. I don’t regret choosing Dr. Davis as my surgeon at all.” – Katie

What to Expect During Your Facial Implants Consultation

During your consultation appointment, Dr. Davis will assess the structure of your face and discuss your goals for the surgery. Part of this assessment involves deciding which size type of implant will best fit your needs. Dr. Davis will also explain the procedure to you, address any of your questions or concerns and give you a list of instructions for pre-surgical and post-surgical care.

Some dermal fillers can be used to enhance the contours of your face. For patients who desire a more long-lasting solution, Dr. Davis recommends facial implants. Contact our office today to schedule your personal consultation.
